How do I vote?

At the meeting next Saturday paper ballots will be issued for those in attendance to cast their votes.

Also, you may use the 2024 Online Ballot or vote by email to ssna76135@gmail.com, please include the following information in your email:
* Your Property Address
* Are you a renter or owner
* Names
* Preferred email addresses
* Preferred phone numbers
* Alternate mailing address
* Your votes for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Sergeant at Arms

These votes are secret, but not anonymous.  We need to ensure that voting complies with the by-laws.  Only one vote per household (not per spouse), property owners may only vote once despite the number of properties they own, renters occupying a property may cast their own vote for that household, and all properties must reside within the neighborhood association boundaries.

Meeting Summary

Brian opened the meeting and introduced Michelle Gutt.

Michelle Gutt:

Explained the city's role in establishing new Neighborhood Associations and helping NAs with getting the board positions filled.  She shared that there are awards and competitions for best NA events, and they help facilitate that.  They do not help to resolve disputes but can provide mediation when needed.  Instead, they encourage us to follow the by-laws we have put on file with them to settle disputes.  A neighbor asked if there is any funding from the city for running the NAs, she said no, but we can fundraise if we would like.

Brian Updates About Highway:

Next June we should have the exit for Rankin available, Surfside will be the last exit to be completed. Love Circle will go over the new bridge then out at the new exit.

Update about Water Project:

Fliers were mailed, there will be a city meeting held Thursday October 24, 2024 6 pm at the Mounted Patrol about the new water main project going down Surfside to Lakeside.

Brian Updates about Bylaws Filing:

The NA voted on new by-laws back in 2022.  These by-laws expanded the number of board positions from 3 (President, VP/Treasurer, Secretary) to 5 (President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, Sergeant at Arms). The old by-laws were what the city had on record until yesterday, when the 2022 by-laws were filed.

Candidates gave remarks about themselves.

Can a person run for two positions at the same time? (ex: Vice President and Sergeant at Arms)
The attendees decided this would not be allowed.  A person must choose and only run for one position.

What of the Sergeant at Arms?
When the 2022 bylaws were filed the day before the meeting, a forgotten about position, Sergeant at Arms, was brought to light.  Attendees decided since no one was running for the position, the position would not be filled during this election.

What about the population of the Facebook group?
A question was raised by the Secretary asking if the population of the Facebook group should continue to contain past residents, or if it should be pruned down to only include current residents?  An attendee expressed a preference for the group being pruned down to only the current residents, no one dissented.

Who has access to the SSNA76135 gmail account?
It was decided that Adrienne Taylor, acting as Secretary until the election, will change the password to the account while is voting is underway.  This is to help promote secrecy of the ballots cast.  The password will be shared with Kenneth Nalley, so he may impartially count the ballots.

Who will count the ballots?
The ballots will be counted by Kenneth Nalley.  Eleven paper ballots were collected at the meeting, which Nalley took into his possession.  He will be given the password to the SSNA76135 gmail account so he can also tally the electronically submitted ballots.
