Casino Beach Development
Deanne shared her interactions in the last month with Scott, Joel McElhany, and Dave Lewis. Very little information has been gathered about their progress in developing and distributing an SOI for Casino Beach. A suggestion was given to Deanne by someone familiar with the inner workings of the city to try to get a petition going for the City of Fort Worth to put in pickleball courts (specifically at Casino Beach) as the City of Fort Worth has never put in courts for this every growing sport. While the city has converted a few old tennis courts, surrounding smaller cities have listened to their residents and invested in many pickleball courts. The idea would be that the angle of petitioning for pickleball courts would be a great way to get a move on getting development begun on Casino Beach.
Oct 11 Litter Stomp
Deanne asked the city to provide us trash bags and gloves for 25 people. She will distribute the materials on Friday October 10 on Island View Dr. Saturday morning is the Litter Stomp. We’re just to walk around our own areas (streets, water line, parks and common areas), fill up our trash bags and dispose of the trash in our own trash cans.
Recent Gator Activity
Neighbors on Peninsula Club West have reported a large alligator dwelling under their docks recently. The nature center was contacted, but they perhaps don’t choose to relocate all alligators. We will be inviting Jared Wood to speak at our meeting about the alligators, or hope to gather more information from him to present at the October 3rd meeting.
2025 Christmas Lighted Boat Parade
While we don’t yet know the date from the sailing club of the Christmas Parade of Lights (possibly December 6th), we mentioned repeating the event this year as last year’s event was a success.
Exploring Lane Striping on Watercress
It is a common complaint about how dangerous driving on Watercress can be as people tend to drive fast, and in the middle of the road to accommodate their speed. Recently, Adrienne noticed fresh yellow dashed lane stripes on 8600 block of Heron Drive (near the 820 bridge). Last winter a 17 year old driver had driven off the road on a sharp corner, the car went into the lake and tragically the driver died. We’d like to investigate what it would take to have lane striping on parts (or all) of Watercress, and also learn from our neighbors what they think of the idea.
