Summary
On April 2 the board met at Treasurer Tom Mast's house. All members were present, though VP Brian had to call in.
Adrienne confirmed that the blog had been updated with a post about March's neighborhood meeting, that the email distribution list had already been updated with the new contacts recieved at the meeting and that an email had since been sent out about the new blog post, and blog updates.
A primary topic of this meeting was about the best way to report concerning and illegal activity by homeless individuals around Casino Beach and the new bridge construction. Neighbor Mike Statler had encountered an individual under the bridge who behaved in a concerning manner towards Mike. Mike shared his experience with reporting the incident to 911 and the responding officer's response in which Mike was told the enounter was not an emergcy situation.
The board decided it would be best to arrange a meeting with Officer Sergio Martinez and the lake marshals in order to recieve better instruction about how neighbors can discenern when 911 ought to be called and how to further handle concerning behavior in the area. Also decided was to suggest proper signage in the area about trespassing and hours of operation.
Next discussion was about the six signs that had been installed around our neighborhood, advertising the March meeting. All but one of the signs were recoverd. Those will be stored in order to be updated and reused in October. One was accidentally thrown away by a well meaning person. It will be replaced before our next meeting. Also, the signs had been paid for by the Mast family, as a donation to the association. This had not been properly displayed on the treasury slide at the meeting.
Deanne was contacted by a woman who lives near SSNA and would like to be involved in the Casino Beach planning. We've learned there is a section of of homes near our boundaries that are also in the City of Fort Worth, but those homes do not yet belong to a neighborhood association. It was suggested by Sami Roop that we eventually incorproate all of those home into our NA. However, the board has concerns about possibly doubling the size of SSNA by incorporating so many new homes, and also believe all NA's whose properties are directly on Lake Worth have unique and binding concerns. The homes suggested for inclusion do not have property lines on the lake.
Tom provided suggestions for our next action steps towards the development of Casino Beach. We will be making a simple multiple choice survey of ideas to learn the top five or ten desired features. This survey will be sent not only to those in SSNA but will also be distributed to other lake area NAs.
We reviewed maps provided to us by the city of the previously designed bike path. The part that goes through our area has not even been bid out. There is no known date of execution, however the bike path around other parts of the lake is done. There is a map with the proposed trailheads through our neighborhood. We may wish for these to be different than planned.
Neighbor Dave Bodden had several good suggestions by email in reguard to dock ordinances and lake closures. We will be suggesting setting up a comittee of neighbors to address such things together on our behalf, like we have suggested will be done for Casino Beach development.
More discussion of organizing a lake clean-up team, nothing yet decided.
