March Meeting, Donations, Casino Beach

Alert: Neighborhood Meeting is MARCH 27th

My sincerest apologies to those on Facebook, who noticed the Facebook event was erroneously made for this week in February. I accidentally chose the wrong Thursday the 27th when I made the entry.  Our meeting is scheduled for Thursday MARCH 27th.  The Facebook event date has been corrected.  To learn more, click: March 27th Meeting Location and Details.

Donations

Tom Mast, our treasurer, has established a bank account for SSNA donations and payments.  Using the email address ssna76135@gmail.com as the account identifier to send money to, you can make donations via Venmo or Zelle.  It is a good idea to make a small test donation of $1 or less, before sending larger amounts.  Even a $5 donation would be very beneficial to us.

Why does the association need money? We will be using the money to pay for making meeting signs to be posted around the neighborhood, any printed materials, and for paying for rental spaces for meetings.  Currently, Deanne, Brian and Tom have donated the money to cover the rental fee and sign construction for our first meeting.  Thank you so much for your generosity!

What's the board been up to?

The board has been establishing relationships with those who have an influence over and interest in the development of Casino Beach.

Deanne and Brian met with Jared Wood who is the newly appointed Nature Center Park Manager.  He discussed his vision for the future of the Nature Center and is interested in a symbiotic relationship with our NA in order to promote a thriving community in our area.

Deanne and Tom also met with an investment manager who is overseeing the sale of the Bingo Hall location.  There is discussion in rezoning that land to be "light industrial".

Next month there is a meeting with Dave Lewis, the new city parks manager in order to talk about the development of Casino Beach.

What about Peninsula Club?

We have recently learned of a person at the city who will be an instrumental contact in preserving Peninsula Club as a greenspace, Allison Docker, the city's Greenspace Initiatives Manager, and we will be reaching out to her very soon.
