"Homeless" Action Protocol for SSNA
The following protocol was developed during a special meeting with local law enforcement at the lake marshal's office.
How should someone report unsafe or illegal activity observed in our area, by persons who are simply up to no good, or may be homeless and "camping" nearby?
When to report by My FW App:
- tents for overnight use, send pictures and location
- illegal dumping of trash, send pictures and location
When app is used, duplicate reports for the same incident may be closed in order to cull the log. Things reported here are considered non-emergency but still need to be addressed.
When to call 911:
- open flames observed for warmth or cooking
- aggressive behavior
When 911 has been called, the caller may follow up with the department to ask what was the result of the call.
I've tried these things and have seen no proper response or improvement.
This is a commonly heard complaint. Our strategy for now is to follow this protocol, so there is a paper trail of incidents and responses. It will help us to prove to the city what is and is not being done.
